Leaf and Grit Barriers
Designed for use in transformer vaults, Leaf Barriers are an add-on to the Floor Drain Protectors that increase product lifespan. By shielding the filter itself from accumulations of leaves, gravel and other relatively large-particle contaminants, the oil-blocking Floor Drain Protector can continue to function at peak efficiency even in environments that have large amounts of particulate. Attaching to the inlet side of a Floor Drain Protector, Leaf Barriers can be detached from the base unit and washed with a standard hose before returning to service after being clogged by grit and debris.
Leaf Barriers can be included with Floor Drain Protectors as a kit at time of purchase, or added to most models after the fact. Please note that the Leaf Barrier does protrude several inches out from the surface of the Floor Drain Protector, and as such is not recommended in areas that will see large amounts of traffic due to the potential tripping hazard they could pose in such locations. Ideal locations for Leaf Barrier use include transformer vaults, berm walls, and other outdoor locations where human traffic is minimal.
